Hello,
My name is Charles A. Hill. I am not a psychiatrist, psychologist, or a doctor. I am a person with a strong passion for personal success and change. I know that positive change is the difference between failure and success. It is easier said than done. How to bring about positive change? By visualizing winning. I have studied visualization and its effects for over 20 years. I have conducted therapy with athletes at the top of major league sports for over 17 years. I became certified in hypnosis and NLP in the last few years.
I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the works of the great people who have discovered the fundamentals which make my methods effective. Please check my quotes page for many great inspiring quotes, and lessons about the human mind as the result of many lifetimes of great thinkers.
What is it that I do ? What makes my methods so effective?
What I do is based on proven psychological science. I usually work with athletes, as I myself used these methods as an athlete when I was younger. I used them to reach various set goals of my life. I know they work. Because every athlete has the goal of improving their ability to reach their goals in very definable terms, and because visualization is the most effective means to achieve this, visualizing winning is the core of what my clients and I do together. To fully understand how this works when I work with a client, read the book Psycho Cybernetics from Maxwell Maltz. When fully understood, anybody can improve parts of their lives dramatically by using the methods which follow the principles outlined in his book. Psycho Cybernetics can be understood by the layman. Applying the principles in this book to athletes in a clinical setting by using imagination therapy is the essence of my successes. You can do it yourself. I have. And I learned most of what I know today using the principles conceived by Maltz.
Earl Nightingale, the great American writer is another man who knew these methods. You may watch a video below. He talks a lot about self image psychology in his videos. There are many ways to find the same truths. Seeing yourself winning is a necessary first step to becoming a winner. It can be done at home. What I do, is take the experimenting out of the equation. I help my clients, by starting halfway to first base. I will teach you how to improve your ability to visualize winning as I have for many clients.
As you begin to learn to visualize at a higher level, I will teach you how to use that voice in your mind that is always telling you what you can and cannot do. When you learn to use that voice, you will learn a form of self control that winners have.
Paraphrasing Dr. Maltz in Psycho Cybernetics:
The subconscious mind can not distinguish experience from vivid imagination.
This of course means that we may gain experience from imagination. We can asses our abilities to succeed based on prior experience, even if only imagined. Imagined experiences are able to be used to shortcut our processes of self image formation. Change the self image, and the actual self will follow. Controlled visualization is therefore the key to changing the self.
Therefore, I use several tools in order to physiologically prepare the client for the use of visualization techniques which are the most effective. I use the following techniques so I can help clients to Visualize Winning :
Focused Attention Meditation,
Progressive Muscle Relaxation,
NLP,
Focused-Attention Exercises,
Mantra Chanting,
Theatre of the mind, and
Hypnotherapy
These are the tools I have used with incredible results. I am sometimes still amazed at the changes i have encountered. Maltz was a genius.
While my primary focus has been on professional athletes, and collegiate athletes, and their specific goals, I have also, since 2016 conducted therapy with non athletic winning subjects such as:
Winning at non sporting challenges
Weight loss/proper diet
Overcoming the causes of Anxiety
Becoming comfortable flying
Motivation
Becoming better at song writing
Proper Goal setting
Becoming a non smoker
Becoming a non drinker
Becoming free of drug use
Winning against Cancer
Proper Self Image Awareness
While I have occasionally modified my techniques as more and more research about the mind is released, and methods to improve efficacy improve, I am basically doing the same thing I have since 2004, when my first attempt to help an athlete besides myself changed me forever...
I do not conduct therapy via zoom, or teleconference. I am able to allow you, in your mind, to learn the methods to become successful at whatever you want to win, by conducting therapy with you, dealing with your subconscious ability to be able to take over the conscious mind, as it should, for peak performance, but I do this only in person. Visualization can be much more effective if the proper environment is available. Feedback is essential for effective therapy. I do travel. I will come to you, or we can meet anywhere you like. I conduct therapy usually in a suite in a nice Hotel, or in some larger cities, where therapy rooms are available for daily rental. Some of my clients have offered to have the therapy sessions conducted in their home, and that works well as long as we can be sure of no interruption. Telephones, beepers, pagers, alarms, wives, husbands, pets, children, and everything else with the potential to disrupt therapy sessions are forbidden. Sessions will last for one hour to two hours.
I have found the greatest return on time invested by spacing sessions out every other day for 4 sessions in 7 days. Sometimes 7 days is sufficient, and other times, we will increase therapy duration to 14 days. After our sessions are completed, I will have prepared for you an audio recording for continuing therapy.
I have a strict policy regarding privacy. I am very aware of the privacy demanded by professional athletes and others who are in the "limelight". I am aware of the privacy concerns of all my clients and do not name drop, use the name of any client in any way, or allow pictures of myself with clients to be allowed into public, including online. As much as the top golfer or baseball player in the world wants to be able to go into a restaurant and eat, or go to Disneyland with his family, I want the same for myself and my family. I do not do television interviews. I do not attend sporting events where a client is working, unless the client invites me. This is the reason I have never advertised, and why I refrained so long from creating a website. In fact, if you are on this site, you probably got referred here by a client, or I gave you my card in person, or you learned about my service at a charity event where I donated therapy to a charity auction for a needy cause.
If you are considering a service such as mine, and need financial assistance, I may be able to help you.
If you would prefer to work with a therapist over the internet on a video call, or if you are a long ways away from the plains of Oklahoma, I know several therapists across the country, one in the Caribbean, and one in Mexico. I do speak Spanish, but I do not conduct therapy in Spanish. I will also not work with clients who are being pushed into therapy reluctantly by a spouse, sibling, parent, or coach. You must want to use therapy to improve for the therapy to be effective.
At the current time, 100% of my sports clients are personal referrals from previous clients, or through friends. I do not wish to hire any other therapists. I don't even have a secretary. I love what I do because I am in the business of helping the boss, and I am good at it. The boss, of course for whom I am very grateful, being my clients. Starting the website doesn't change what I do. It only makes it easier for people who wish to contact me and maybe learn a little about why my methods achieve such excellent results. They are not actually my methods in themselves, but a therapeutic hybrid of self image psychology, Ericksonian concepts, meditation, mantras, various forms of visualization, and NLP.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this page. I also thank the great Milton Erickson, one of the best therapists ever for his contributions to the philosophy of therapy and change. I will also thank Maxwell Maltz, the plastic surgeon who became the modern father of self image psychology. I thank Doctor Steve G Jones, my hypnotherapy and NLP teacher and mentor, creator of the ABLE system, a large part of my pre visualization methods. I also thank Dr William Courtney for always answering my questions and being a great inspiration. I thank Carlos and Flaco for giving me my start. I thank my best friend, Jamie ,who fought in Iraq for this country, and somehow survived being hit by a rocket. He has taught me so much about being positive. I thank all my clients for trusting me, and for being great role models to people who really have the desire to reach greatness, in sports or any endeavor. I also thank my nephew, Forrest, who reminds me that I taught him to be rational, and he reminds me when i fail to live up to my teachings. I thank my family for supporting me when I needed it, my client and friend, Tom for his persistence, and finally God, for this wonderful life and for the tools to allow me to help more people experience the greatness this life has to offer.
